Per capita meat consumption in Russia in 2009 decreased by 7 kg. and was 56 kg. per year, which is similar to the value of this indicator in 2007

In the first half of 2009 compared to the same period in 2008, the production of sausages decreased by 10, 4% and amounted to 1073, 0 tons. In the analysis of performance revealed that the release was reduced in all federal districts. The maximum decline in production was recorded in Siberia (15, 9%) and Far Eastern Federal District (15, 5%).
During the period from 2001 to 2007. meat production in Russia increased by 31%, but in the last few years the market had the opposite tendencies of development. Thus, in 2005 saw an increase in the production of meat of all kinds, as compared with 2004 - by 12%, while in 2006 this figure, in contrast, declined by 5%. In 2007 the volume of production of meat has increased again - to 3 1%, amounting to 623 mln. cans (which corresponds to 236 thousand tons). In 2008, there was a small decline in production - up to 587 million standard cans (206 tons). Forecast for 2009 - 606 mln. cans (212 tons).
Russia is among the countries with the highest growth rate of food inflation in Europe. According to head of investment analysis unit GC "Hladoprodukt" and "Fish Union" Timur Mitupov, prices for meat and meat products in Russia for the period of 2008 grew by 23, 0%, whereas in the EU - in 5 1 %. In 2009, the rise in prices continued.
